We Moved!
For months BQE
Software has found itself in the happy position of needing to move to larger facilities to
support our growth.

Well, we did it.
Thanks to all of you we are now in our new digs. Yes, Murphy (the Maker of Laws) visited,
giving us a few bumps, but he left in a huff after a couple days. Hes not a fan of
things running as smooth as a babys tush.

BillQuick<-->QuickBooks . . .
Integration Questions
When first integrating BillQuick with
QuickBooks, and you populate a new BillQuick firm database with data existing in
QuickBooks (a big time saver for setup), two questions may arise:
- Why do I have Missing in some data fields? How can I fix it?
- Why does some data have parentheses around them? Is there a way to fix it
fast?
"Missing"
Data
Every application
requires that certain fields contain data. This ensures accurate and complete processing.
Both BillQuick and QuickBooks contain required fields. At times, two applications may not
require values in the same fields.
This occurs between
BillQuick and QuickBooks. Thus, when transferring data from one application to the other,
'placeholder' data must be added to ensure accurate and complete processing.
When you read
QuickBooks vendor data (for example) into BillQuick, the "Missing" placeholder
value is added when BillQuick-required data does not exist in QuickBooks. A common example
is Contact Name. BillQuick requires the first and last name but QuickBooks does not.
The end result is
"Missing" prints on reports and displays in fields.
Finding and
correcting these items is easy and quick.
- Select File, Find from the menu (or press Ctrl+F) to open the Find utility.
- Click on the table you wish to search.
- Enter the value "Missing" (without quotes) in the keyword field.
- Click the Search button.
- On the Search Results window, highlight the row of the first record you
want to view, then click the Load button.
- Make your changes to the record, click the Save, then Close the
screen.
- Repeat Steps 2 to 6 for each record listed on the Search Results window.
Parentheses
in QuickBooks Fields
Fields containing
the same data in two applications are not always the same size. One may accept 35
characters while another accepts 75. Like the previous situation, accuracy is paramount.
In BillQuick 2003 and earlier versions, BillQuick and QuickBooks had several fields which
were not the same size. BillQuick addressed this difference by adding parentheses when it
transferred data to QuickBooks.
When BillQuick 2004
was released in early May, field size differences were eliminated. However, the
parentheses feature was not.
In a matter of days,
this old compatibility feature will be gone. The next update will remove the
no-longer-needed parentheses from BillQuick.
What do you have to
do to get the update?
Nothing. Well,
almost nothing.
If you allow BillQuick to automatically access the Internet and check for
updates, it will find the update and ask to download it.
If you manually check for updates, look for it on or about June 25.
Once you have the update file, run the
install program.
To
get rid of parentheses in QuickBooks, select each list (client, etc.) and look for
parentheses. (They should sort at the top of the list.) When you find a record with
parentheses, select it and edit the affected field.
