Ta-Da! BillQuick 2004 Is Shipping!

BQE Software and its flagship product, BillQuick, never stand still.

In the past few weeks, you received special announcements for BillQuick 2004, the latest—and greatest (we're only a little modest)—version of our time, billing and project management tool that helps you maximize billable time and cash flow. We listened to you, incorporating more than 100 improvements and enhancements into the software.

Okay, prove it to yourself.

First, check out the BillQuick 2004 – What's New Demo. It covers dozens of new features...like right-click menus, real-time sync with QuickBooks®, project merging, write-up and write-down of time entries from the Time Entry window, In-Context Reports throughout the software, Named Security Settings...

Okay, so we're excited about BillQuick 2004.

Second, if the demo is not enough excitement (or you're really skeptical), download the BillQuick 2004 trial version. Run it parallel with your current version of BillQuick. Okay, okay. It hard for us not to get excited about BillQuick 2004. You'll be excited too after downloading and checking out the latest and greatest software from BQE Software.

FYI: The BillQuick 2004 database contains more information. Also, it was optimized for greater speed. Thus, when you install BillQuick 2004 and go live your current database must be converted. However, when installing BillQuick 2004 to check it out, do not convert your current database when BillQuick asks. Instead, be sure to answer No when asked if you want to covert your current database. Make a copy of your current BillQuick 2003 database and convert the copy.

Will It Work With... 
Custom Reports and Add-On Modules

Good question.

"What about reports and invoices? We created custom templates."

No problem. Custom reports and invoices created for BillQuick 2003 (with Crystal Reports 9.0 or 9.2) with BillQuick 2004 without modification. The latest and greatest BillQuick utilizes the Crystal Reports 9.2 report generation engine.

After installing BillQuick 2004 to go live, copy your custom reports to the proper reports folder, or make sure the location of your report files is properly defined on the Other tab of the User Preferences screen.

Also, if you plan to create custom reports or invoices to use with BillQuick 2004, be sure to use Crystal Reports 9.0 or 9.2.

"Do I need to upgrade my other modules too? The database changed—optimized, you said, and my old one needs to be converted? Do I need to . . .!?!"

No worries. BQE Software takes care of its customers. You do not need to buy upgrades for any BillQuick 2003 add-on modules. Put your checkbook away. BQE Software tweaked current module versions to work with both current BillQuick 2003 databases and the new BillQuick 2004 database.

To update your current add-on modules to work with BillQuick 2004, simply download the ones you need. Below is a list of add-on module updates and when they will be available. By April 30, all add-on module software will be ready for download.

New QuickBooks Integration Wizard

Designed for new and current BillQuick users, whether they are using QuickBooks or plan to, the QuickBooks Integration Wizard makes setup and decision simpler and faster.

BillQuick 2004 looks for QuickBooks on your system the first time you start it up after installation. If it finds a database for QuickBooks 2002, 2003 or 2004, you are asked if you want the QuickBooks Integration Wizard to walk you through the steps. If you integrated your old version with QuickBooks, BillQuick will pull in previous settings for you to fine-tune using new capabilities. Also, you can start the wizard at any time by clicking QuickBooks Integration Wizard on the QuickBooks menu.

The QuickBooks Integration Wizard first asks whether you are new to BillQuick, QuickBooks, both, or neither. The answer controls the path BillQuick walks you down. It intelligently knows what questions to ask, what options to offer, and if you are using the wizard to update current settings or to establish new ones or unlinking/re-linking integrated databases. You can set BillQuick Activity Code and Expense Code associations with QuickBooks Income Accounts and Expense Accounts. This feature extends to special items such as invoice discount, retainer amount applied and more. One-to-one item-account associations can be defined with clicks of the mouse. Other options include selecting what data tables to synchronize, whether to sync BillQuick expense records with QuickBooks Bills or QuickBooks Checks.

BillQuick 2004 supports Real-Time, On-Schedule and On-Demand Synchronization with QuickBooks. Real-Time Sync requires QuickBooks 2004, and while real-time sync is not required, it is recommended. The What's New demo includes an example of real-time synchronization. On-Schedule Sync has been added, allowing you to choose the reminder frequency for synchronizing BillQuick with QuickBooks 2002, 2003 or 2004. On-Demand Sync is available from many screens and the QuickBooks menu. You simply select the record you want to sync with QuickBooks, then click the or button.
